"I highly recommend Glass Guru. We had a large window with a fogged-up glass that needed replacing and they did a great job! James came out to measure and install. He was always on time and professional. Reliable, great work, and professional, so 5 stars!"
"Glass Guru has some issues as a sliding door provider and installer. The men who installed my four sliding doors were nice guys and good workers, but the company lacks proper training, planning and preparation for sliding door installations. Glass Guru also lacks follow-through on missing or improper material. If the estimator had explained to the homeowner what they would provide and what they would not provide, the homeowner would not be writing this long, negative review. He never mentioned he did not intend to install exterior thresholds or provide new, exterior brick molding around the new doors. Most homeowners do not know that much of that material is damaged or destroyed in removing the old doors, and the fit dimensions of the new doors is different, requiring new exterior material. After getting the order, Glass Guru management did not follow-up with the homeowner on anything including estimated delivery. The homeowner felt abandoned after the order was placed and spent a lot of personal time getting all the material needed to complete the job.
I ordered four paintable, composite sliding doors from Glass Guru. My intent was to paint them to match the color of my house per HOA approval. On the day of installation, Glass Guru showed up with four white, non-paintable PVC doors, not the higher quality and more costly composite material. It was at this point that I was informed composite material was not available. This caused 9-day delay to reschedule installation after getting HOA approval. With basically 2 men and a little help later from a third, they installed all 4 doors in one long day that went to 7:45PM. One installer had to return for two additional half days to finish up. The 2 man crew should have been scheduled for 2 days to properly accomplish this amount of work during reasonable hours.
During installation, homeowner discovered Glass Guru had no plans and no intentions for finishing the outdoor threshold after the new doors were installed. Additionally, Glass Guru had no plans for replacing the old painted wooden brick molding that framed the doors outside. These new white PVC doors needed new white PVC brick molding to properly complete the job. Homeowner was not aware of these needs and was never informed this job did not include finishing the threshholds or replacing the brick molding. During the installation, homeowner had to rush to Lowe's and buy a considerable amount of PVC material for brick molding and thresholds. Homeowner had to cut, fit, and apply PVC material to each unique threshold himself. Glass Guru reluctantly cut, fit and applied the PVC brick molding purchased by the homeowner at Lowes during the door installation.
For a professional appearance, fastener access holes should be plugged with 3/8" white PVC plugs made for that purpose. Without asking homeowners permission, Glass Guru used caulk which later had to be removed.
The door stops provided with the white PVC doors were black rubber which contrasted badly with the white doors. Also, the door stops were too short for the application. That allowed the exterior door handle to contact the stationary door frame when the sliding door was opened against the door stop. Getting the correct size and color door stops and some 3/8" white PVC hole plugs took 5-1/2 months and 2 incorrect material deliveries. Glass Guru showed little concern and gave little effort in trying to get these issues with the hole plugs and door stops resolved. Homeowner discovered through inquiry that the doors were sourced through Aluma Window Company. Homeowner went directly to Aluma to get satisfaction. Aluma went above and beyond expectations to satisfy the homeowner. They provided a bag of 3/8" white PVC hole plugs, they went to a different door manufacturer to get the correct size white rubber door stops, and Aluma communicated immediately when a shipment was received.
Communication and customer satisfaction are areas that Glass Guru needs to improve.
