The Glass Guru Franchise recently announced the promotion of Mr. Sean Young to the position of Director of Technology and Communications. This promotion comes at a time where The Glass Guru faces a rapidly evolving environment on both the technological and communications front, and is a result of Young’s contributions in both arenas since joining the organization in 2012. Young was born in Walnut Creek, CA, and grew up in the “Bay Area” region, east of San Francisco. He began his franchise journey while still attending university, worked full-time through school as the manager of two franchised custom picture framing shops, and subsequently earned a BA in Art from the California State University Hayward. This marked the start of what would become Young’s understanding of franchising, and the unique relationship between franchisor and franchisee. Since then, Sean has amassed nearly 3 decades of consecutive experience in the franchise space. He has a unique and diverse background as a franchisor team member and as a franchisee. He has served in a variety of roles with franchise brands like FastFrame USA, California Closets, and of course, The Glass Guru. Additionally, he’s worked as an International Franchise Association (IFA) approved Internet marketing vendor, providing websites and marketing services to brands like Tutor Doctor, Senior Helpers, Home Instead, Aussie Pet Mobile, LineX, Mathnasium, and more. Young’s unique path through the franchise space has included roles in general management, sales, distribution and logistics, product development, operations, learning and development, technology, marketing, communications, and more. Sean is currently responsible for overseeing the organization’s technology infrastructure, as well as the development, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of technological initiatives to the organization. This includes research and procurement of new technology solutions for franchisor team members and franchise users alike. Larger scale initiatives like overseeing the organization’s consumer website, franchise development website, company Intranet site, and virtually all SaaS applications in the company tech stack are all part of Young’s responsibilities. The inclusion of brand communications in his new role is very much indicative of the role Sean has played over the years as the informal “PR Director” for the brand. Sean will continue in this role, in a much more formalized way moving forward. Young’s experience in serving both internal and external customers, in a multitude of roles, and with various franchise brands, positions him well for success in this role.
Sean has made himself an invaluable asset of the company since he began with us back in 2012. With his broad experience in franchise operations with several well known brands, Sean has filled many gaps for us leading up to this critical role. Having someone as qualified as Sean behind the wheel of our tech stack and communications, I greatly look forward to seeing the continued evolution of these critical areas.”Dan Frey | Founder and CEO – The Glass Guru Franchise Systems, Inc.
Sean lives in Roseville, CA with his wife Christine (also a member of The Glass Guru franchisor team), son Tristan (16), and daughter Erin (13). His passions include home improvement and furniture making. He loves spending time in the great outdoors with his family and friends, including backcountry travel, mountain biking, hunting, and fishing. In addition, Sean is a nationally ranked competitive shooter, and experienced professional firearms instructor.
