Hi, we’re Tom and Joe Ruble, the father-and-son team behind The Glass Guru of West Portland.
For more than a decade, we’ve talked about the idea of going into business together. We both wanted the opportunity to build something meaningful—something that would allow us to serve others, create a lasting legacy, and have more control over our future. In 2026, that vision became a reality when we opened The Glass Guru of West Portland.
While Tom leads the day-to-day operations and works directly with our customers, Joe provides the business leadership and strategic support behind the scenes. Together, we combine decades of business experience with a shared commitment to integrity, hard work, and exceptional customer service.
Tom grew up in Denver, Colorado, graduated from Regis Jesuit High School, and earned his degree in History from the University of Oregon in 2016. He has called Portland home since 2018. Before joining The Glass Guru, Tom spent nearly 10 years in SaaS compliance sales, helping Fortune 1000 companies make ethical business decisions. That experience reinforced the importance of trust, honesty, and doing the right thing—values that are at the heart of how we serve every customer.
Joe brings more than 40 years of leadership experience in the technology and media industries. After earning degrees in Political Science, Business, and Law from Ohio University and The Catholic University of America, he built a career leading businesses and helping organizations grow. While much of his work has been in technology, he was excited by the opportunity to build a hands-on business that allows us to work directly with homeowners, solve real problems, and make a positive impact in the community.
What drew us to The Glass Guru was finding a franchise that offered the support of an established brand while giving us the independence to build our own business. Just as importantly, we found a company whose values aligned with ours and a team that genuinely cares about helping people.
For Joe, one of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the opportunity to finally go into business with his son after talking about it for so many years. For Tom, it’s about building something meaningful alongside family while serving the Portland community he proudly calls home.
When we’re not working, Tom enjoys cycling, skiing at Mt. Hood Meadows, exploring Forest Park, and spending time outdoors with his wife, Michelle. Joe enjoys flying airplanes, cooking for family and friends, boating, golfing, and making the most of the outdoors whenever he can.
