I have 36 Years of Telecommunications experience working for a large manufacturer of high-end voice data PBX systems, and in the secondary market supporting customers with hardware and technical services. For the first 14 years I held various positions within the manufacturing company beginning as a Field Engineer, National Technical Support, moving into Peripheral Engineering, Product Service Planning, Manager of Service Planning, and Senior Software Engineer. The remaining 22 years I worked in the secondary market supporting customer’s hardware and technical support needs for their voice data PBX and Automatic Call Distribution Systems, with 20 of those years as a partner in the business.
Having been in business for myself for 22 years I could not see myself going back to corporate America. The secondary market for telecommunications equipment had changed drastically and was not something I wanted to continue to pursue.
I wanted to be involved in a business with products and services that wouldn’t become obsolete in a short period of time or if ever. I had an experience in my home with a broken window, and called a glass company to have it repaired. The estimator was there maybe 15 minutes gave me the estimate and four weeks later the installer was on site maybe 20 minutes and the window was finally replaced. I felt that the market was under served with those lead times. I had been considering a franchise, although I hadn’t considered any particular field until that window replacement experience. I saw the Glass Guru was highly ranked in the franchise community and was growing fast. My initial conversations with Jeff Brake (thanks Jeff) further piqued my interest and the rest is history.
