FAQs
Can glass help reduce outside noise?
Yes. Laminated glass and insulated units with different pane thicknesses can significantly reduce sound transmission.
What is argon gas in windows?
Argon is an inert gas used between panes in insulated glass units. It provides better insulation than air alone, improving energy efficiency.
Do you install skylights?
Skylight services vary by location. Contact us to discuss your specific needs and whether we can assist.
How do I measure for replacement glass?
We recommend having our team take measurements to ensure accuracy. If you need to provide preliminary measurements, measure the visible glass area and note the frame type.
What makes glass energy efficient?
Energy-efficient glass features such as low-e coatings, multiple panes, gas fills, and proper sealing work together to reduce heat transfer and improve insulation.

Erik Hilger,
Owner

Hello neighbors! I’m Erik Hilger, owner of The Glass Guru of Charleston since 2012. I grew up in the Fort Wayne, IN area, went to Carroll High School, and then college at Purdue University where I graduated with a degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision.
Prior to The Glass Guru, I gained valuable experience in marketing and business management. I started The Glass Guru because I enjoy meeting people and wanted to have a positive impact on my community. What attracted me to The Glass Guru was that it was a business that was needed and valued. I am extremely proud of the continued growth and success we have had over the years. What I like most about this business is helping others with their home needs.
Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, hunting, enjoying the beach with friends, sports, and cooking. My wife and I have a son and daughter as well as an English Bulldog named Koda. On weekends you might find us keeping our young kids entertained. It’s a great honor and privilege to have the opportunity to serve you and we hope to be the local glass shop you can trust and rely on for many years to come.
